Looking for a quick treat that’s different from your usual cereal bars?  These bars are simple and are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!  A definite hit with the kids.

Peanut Butter Cereal Treats

My mom used to make these with Post Toasties, and roll them into little balls.  They were a part of her cookie tray at Christmastime, though I love to eat them any time of year.

Simple collection of ingredients:

What You Need

For those of you who do not consume corn syrup, I haven’t tried making this with any sort of substitute.  If you try something else and it works, be sure to let us all know!

Start by mixing together the corn syrup and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.  Mix it up well.  When it starts to boil, you’re ready to mix in the peanut butter.

Sugary

Then, it’s peanut butter time!

Once that’s well-mixed, stir it into the cereal.  I used crispy rice cereal, though you could use just about anything… corn flakes, oat squares, you name it!

Mix it Up

Spread it into a well-greased/buttered dish.  Now comes the hardest part… waiting for them to cool.

Almost Done

Cut into squares and share the fun!  For an extra special treat (and sugar-rush), you can frost these with chocolate frosting.  Yum!
