Snow Ice Cream

Have you ever made snow ice cream?  When you’re expecting a reasonable accumulation of snowfall, it’s such a fun thing to do with your kids.  And it is so simple to make!  No special ingredients here… Just snow, vanilla extract, sugar, and milk.

Set a large bowl outside as soon as the snow starts to fall.  The bowl I set outside holds about 16 cups.  My brave husband retrieved it from the snow drift that formed on top of it!

Once you’re ready to make snow ice cream, gather around your vanilla extract, milk, and sugar.

Scoop out or scrape off any extra snow before bringing the bowl inside.

Then top it with some sugar and vanilla extract and start stirring.

Add milk a little bit at a time until you reach your desired consistency.  We like it a little on the “drier” side and don’t add too much milk.  It’s more like a vanilla snow cone than what you’d buy at the store.  However, you can add as much milk as you like!  Just keep in mind that it will become slushier as the snow melts, so don’t go overboard.  Of course, you can always go scoop up some more snow if you get it too slushy!

Scoop into a bowl and enjoy right away!
